A note from Rt. Honourable Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai

The decade long (1996-2006) Peoples War (PW) in Nepal led by the CPN (Maoist) will go down in history as one of the most important events of the twenty-first century. At a time when the intellectual discourse is completely fogged by so-called post-modernist and imperialist globalization agenda, the earth-shaking revolutionary war waged by the poorest of the poor of Nepali has provided a refreshing folder of thought for the discerning minds. Hence the Nepalese PW motivated millions across the globe to produce a vast wealth of information, comments and literature of varied kinds. It is a high time that this right information experiences from the battle field in a book form for the benefit of the general public, academia researchers and interested group and peoples.
‘A perspective on the Maoist Movement in Nepal’   is a commendable attempt to fulfill that historical necessity. This  book written by Khimlal Devkota who himself one of the battle field experienced as well as peace process involved intellectual and currently central committee member, is a mine of references on the epochal events of the war and peace and constitution writing process . It provides insider view on development of strategic and tactic of the Maoist movement in Nepal with numbers of internal debate and line struggles.
Though the revolutionary process in Nepal has entered into a new phase after the signing of Comprehensive  Peace Accord (CPA) in November 2006,the revolution has not ended. Rather the proletarian revolution is continuing in a new form. After the stunning victory of the CPN (Maoist) in the Constituent Assembly (CA) election held in April 2008 and proclamation of the first republic by the first meeting of the CA in May 2008, the Nepalese proletarian revolutionary moment is widely seen provide a new model through the fusion of the bullet and the ballot. Nepali revolutionary and peoples of Nepal has achieved a Republican System, Secularism, Inclusion and Federalism as revolutionary and historical assets. Nepal was almost about to complete peace process and constitution writing process but most of the status quoits  and reactionaries made conspiracy against it. Then CA demised untimely and unfinished their task. Some of the dogmatist within the party involved to support their interest knowingly unknowingly.
The book should attract furthermore researchers revolutionary practitioners and party workers who really wanted to know about Maoist tactic and strategy developed and practiced in Nepal all over world to study of the experiences of the decade long PW and half decade Peace process in Nepal.
Finally, the book should provide convenient handbook to all the academics and revolutionary activists so I would like to congratulate to Khimlal Devkota. I would expect furthermore publications and writings in future. I wish him all the best.
Baburam Bhattarai
